DDoS attacks thrived in Jiangsu province recently. Especially the outbreak of the notorious “May 19” network disconnection issue provides Telecom Operating and Maintenance Center of Jiangsu province a better sense of the threat of DDoS attacks.Therefore, Jiangsu Telecom Operating and Maintenance Center invited NSFOCUS to present a two-day security training to the Center and telecom maintenance personnel from 13 regions and municipalities of Jiangsu province. NSFOCUS technical experts illustrated contents such as computer emergency response and DDoS attack prevention.

With the topic of “Daily Operation and Maintenance of Collapsar”, technical experts from NSFOCUS Nanjing Office addressed the DDoS background, operation and maintenance of Collapsar Defender, various types of DDoS attack recognition, and Collapsar prevention policy. Packet capture-based attack signatures analysis, Collapsar threshold adjustment, and Collapsar capacity escalation were also introduced. This presentation gave attendees a comprehensive understanding of features and functionalities of Collapsar and the prevention effect on DDoS.In addition, NSFOCUS experts also displayed methods for “Computer security emergency response” and “Windows virus killing”, etc.

A series of attack and prevention experiments were conducted during this training, which greatly inspired everyone to a heated discussion. Maintenance personnel from some regions also discussed with NSFOCUS experts about DDoS attacks they suffered from in their LANs and IDCs, and expressed great interest in NSFOCUS Collapsar products. Some of them even copied the presentation tools for further research.
