Beijing, April 22, 2010-NSFOCUS today took part in the “2010 Communication Network and Information Security Forum” and received another Security Guard award. Dr Zhao Liang, CSO of NSFOCUS addressed at the forum with the title “Security Threat and Protection Points of Cloud Computing”, sharing his understanding of cloud computing and cloud security with attendees.
Dr Zhao pointed out that cloud computing is like a blue ocean full of imagination. As a newborn technology, it not only imposes fundamental affect on our work and businesses, but also invigorates new ideas about operation flows, purchasing flows as well as business research and development. Therefore, we should extensively protect cloud computing on one hand, and make good use of cloud computing to launch new businesses on the other hand. Dr Zhao analyzed main threats brought by cloud computing and described some progresses that were made by NSFOCUS in cloud security. NSFOCUS is the first member of the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) in Asian and Pacific regions. Dr Zhao also initiated the CSA Greater China Chapter (CSA-GCC), in the hope that more co-workers and security vendors in the industry could join together to share their understanding of cloud security, and improve and push forward relevant standards and regulations.
In this information economy age, data explosion imposes tremendous challenges on the development of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry. As a result of its powerful data processing and resource sharing capability, cloud computing has attracted lots of public attention and brought upcoming security problems as well. Further discussion about cloud security was implemented between Tang Hongyu, NSFOCUS Industrial Technical Counselor, and experts from Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China and the Chinese telecom security industry, along with some network security vendors.
As the leading company in Chinese network security industry, NSFOCUS put out its own cloud security plan in October 2008 and became a member of the CSA in December 2009. NSFOCUS provided active support for Dr Zhao’s team in localizing the Security Guidance for Critical Areas of Focus in Cloud Computing. In the near future, NSFOCUS will study and explore cloud security in a deeper level, and increase corresponding technical and resource investment.
